Battle Chasers Anthology Available Now

Image comics has released a new trade paperback collection of the whole Battle Chasers series thus far (which hasn't been re-released since April 2011). There's a new cover featuring Garrison, and the collection includes issues #0-9 as well as some extras. Unfortunately it was originally solicited as 344 pages which "...includes never-before-seen sketches and new artwork, including a fold-out poster!" but was slimmed down to 312 pages. You can buy the trade paperback at your local comic shop, or online at Amazon.com Battle Chasers Anthology (2019) ! Hopefully this new release is a hint that Battle Chaser's issues 10, 11, 12 will be in development soon!

House of X #1 Joe Madureira Variant Cover Revealed

The Joe Madureira variant cover for the re-launching X-Men title 'House of X' written by Jonathan Hickman and drawn by Pepe Larraz has been revealed...and it may look familiar! Remember that Gambit and Rogue sketch Joe did a few months ago that took social media by storm? That sketch has been inked and coloured for the cover and it looks amazing. It's a fantastic call back to Joe Mad's Uncanny X-Men run back in the 90's and pulls all the nostalgic strings from that era. Hopefully we see more art from Joe this year!

Joe Madureira Says Battle Chasers Comics Are Still Coming

An interesting article over at newsarma.com has new information on where Joe Madureira is at with the future of Battle Chasers comics. Here is the article in full. Battle Chasers writer/artist Joe Madureira says that work on the long-delayed continuation of the series is still in development, but he has decided to enlist others to help him draw upcoming issues. "Realistically, the only way to get the books finished and into your hands any time soon is to recruit some highly talented individuals to help out," Madureira said. "I’ll still be working on the story of course, and drawing as many pages as I can manage. One of the reasons I haven’t let anyone take over the series in the last 20 years is because I always felt that if it were to continue, it had to be me. Or a team I had complete faith in, and I think I’ve found that team. I’ll be releasing more details on that soon" Back in 2015 Madureira ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund development of the since...

Marvel Comics recently announced two new X-Men series debuting this July written by acclaimed writer Jonathan Hickman. They are titled 'House of X' and 'Powers of X' and will redefine the X-Men and their place in the Marvel Universe. Here's an image promotion the new X-Men series (not drawn by Joe Mad!).

Today he's posted some rough concepts of the two before he decided on the final piece. It's amazing to see Joe draw these characters again after so many years. Here's what Joe had to say on twitter: Some roughs for that Rogue and Gambit Image I posted recently. Coming to comic stores near you on March 6th, Mirka Andolfo's Unnatural #8 will have variant 'B' covers, one of which is by Joe Madureira. If you're not familiar with the series, here's a synopsis by Image Comics: "Leslie is a simple pig girl. She loves sushi, she's stuck with a job she hates, and she lives under a brutal totalitarian government-one that punishes transgressors for anything deemed 'unnatural.' Leslie dreams of something different for herself. But those dreams are becoming dangerous... This Italian hit series by MIRKA ANDOLFO (Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, DC Comics Bombshells) will transport you into a colorful but terrible world-full of anthropomorphic creatures, but light on personal freedoms-by way of a breathtaking plot that travels between thriller and fantasy, with a hint of sensuality."

New Sketch by Joe Madureira Featuring Gambit and Rogue from Uncanny X-Men

Rewards are still going out from the Kickstarter campaign that helped fund Battle Chasers: Nightwar. One backer reward level got you a sketch of your choice drawn by Joe Madureira. This drawing brings back all kinds of memories from Joe's run on Uncanny X-Men. During the run, Gambit and Rogue had a budding romance and now we get to see how much Joe's art has developed since those 90's stories. Here's what Joe had to say about it: What year is this again?! The 90’s are alive and well! One of my favorite #kickstarter backer reward sketchies. Most of you were babies the last time I drew these two. 😂 Thanks Kin! ❤️ #gambit #rogue #XMen #25yearsLater

Is DC Comics bringing back the Cliffhanger! comic label?

Over at BleedingCool.com they have received some information that DC Comics is registering the trademark 'Cliffhanger!' for comic books, graphic novels and electronic downloadable publications. Cliffhanger! was a creator-owned imprint by Wildstorm that brought together Joe Madureira (Battle Chasers), Humberto Ramos (Crimson), and J Scott Campbell (Danger Girl). Wildstorm was bought by DC Comics years ago so they inherited the Cliffhanger imprint but it has since been phased out after Danger Girl and Crimson completed their runs and Battle Chasers ended on an actual cliffhanger. Now that this rumour of Cliffhanger! being registered is out in the open, what is DC Comics doing with it? Is this the first step in the continuation of Battle Chaser's? Joe Madureira promised to continue the comic series with a 3-issue story arc during the Battle Chasers: Nightwar Kickstarter campaign. Fingers crossed that this is the first sign of the continuation of the series! I'll hav...
