Zeb Says “With Dan Slott nailing all the Peter Parker soap opera stuff in Amazing Spider-Man, we wanted to a book about Spider-Man as a super hero, out there in the Marvel Universe with the Avengers. This is the big super action movie of Spider-Man every month, with Joe Mad on art.” Joe says “I was a freaking nerd in high school, so I can relate to Spider-Man. I loved Spider-Man because he was funny. Over the years, depending on the writer, sometimes he’s funny, sometimes he’s not. Zeb is very very funny. I hope I can pull it off, but we’re going to have some good comedy in there with serious big action.” Marvel states “the first arc will see Spider-Man and the Red Hulk headed deep underground to deal with the Mole Man and encountering a brand new threat… Avenging Spider-Man is Marvel Team-Up but where the stories have a major impact on Spider-Man and the Avengers....

Joe Madureira working on unannounced Marvel Project

It's official, Joe Madureira is working on an unannouced Marvel Comics project as we speak. In an interview yesterday with Newsarama he says, "I'm actually working on a project for Marvel right now. I hope they announce it soon because I'm dying to talk about it!" The rumors are flying on what he's exactly working on and there are several hints to what it could be. One was in the recently released Battle Chasers Anthology in an opening foreward by Jeph Loeb where Jeph says. "I can only hope that he'll strike out again into the vast reaches of the comic book land he once conqured - Maybe even to see him tackle that webhead he loves so much." As well in the Newsarama interview Joe Mad himself says, "I will say it's a character that I've always wanted to work on. Probably my favorite character of all time, since I was a kid. People who follow my work can probably guess what it is!" If these hints suggest anything it's that ...

Joe Madureira's Battle Chasers Anthology Out April 13?

Just found an interesting bit of info on Diamond Comics Distributors previews... they have an updated shipping list with the Battle Chasers Anthology Hard Cover behind pushed forward to April 13, 2011 instead of June 29, 2011. Amazon.com has it listed for April 23, 2011 as well. So it seems we will (hopefully) be getting our hands on the Hardcover sooner rather than later! Check it out the Diamond Shipping List Update here .

WonderCon 2011: Cup of Joe Panel - Where's Joe Mad?

During the WonderCon Cup O'Joe Panel (with Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Comics Joe Quesada) there was a Q&A session with fans and one of the questions was on the whereabouts of Joe Madureira. What's up with Joe Madureira and Travis Charest and guys like that? "If they want to come back to Marvel, all they need to do is email," Cebulski said. "The door is always open." So maybe with that news it seems Joe Madureira isn't really that close to coming back to Comics anytime soon. I'm sure he's quite busy with developing Darksiders 2.

Austin Wizard World Comic Con

Yesterday Joe Madureira was a featured guest at the Wizard World Comic Con in Austin, Texas. The local newspaper ' Austin Chronicle ' had a small interview I'd like to share. Austin Chronicle: On the game design front, it used to be that the approach was "what will the processors let us get away with?" Now it's "what will the ESRB let us get away with?" From an artistic perspective, how have you found working on video games? Joe Madureira: ESRB hasn't really affected us one way or another. When we started on Darksiders, we made a pact that rather than choose a rating we were shooting for and try to shoe-horn the design, we would do what was best for the game and the 'franchise' and let the rating be whatever it was. We got an 'M' rating, not surprising … but I don't think that's necessarily a huge deal these days. Some of the highest selling games in the last 5 years were slapped with an "M" rating. I think dev...

New York Comic Con is here!

The 2010 New York Comic Con is going on as I type this and Joe Madureira will be there all day today and tomorrow doing signings. I've read he has the Red Monika Print, Battle Chasers Hardcover Print and the un-edited Vampirella Print for sale at his booth. There should be a big announcement this weekend on what Joe Madureira will be drawing for Marvel next. During Marvel's CUP 'O JOE [QUESADA] Panel today Brian Bendis hinted that, "two high-profile, awesome artists" are working on crossover events between the Avengers team, saying that they're "significant Avengers shenanigans." Could this be what Joe Madureira is working on? Hopefully we'll find out over the next few days!
