Quite a shocker of an announcement but Joe Madureira has left as the creative director at Vigil Games. He helped co-found the company back in 2005 and released Darksiders and now Darksiders II. Here is a breakdown on his departure he posted on facebook... Ok! First of all, thank you for all the support. It means the world to me. I just wanted to provide a little more info/clarify a few points. I wish I could hit every single question, and maybe I will someday, but for now: 1-I left Vigil and THQ on very good terms. The continued success of the studio is extremely important to me. And it is not out of the question that I could work with them as an external developer. I'm just not an employee anymore. 2-My leaving is not the 'end of Darksiders'. This one slipped by me! Last week over at comic book resources Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso revealed a page from Joe Madureira's secret Spider-Man project. It certainly sounds like it will be an Avenging Spider-Man arc... "Will we be seeing Elektra pop up any time soon? I heard that Zeb Wells had an "Avenging Spider-Man" story with her. Any new developments?" Alonso: Yes. This, for starters.

Thanks to twitter we have confirmation that Joe Madureira is currently working on the unannounced Marvel project featuring Spider-Man. Hopefully we will hear news soon if it's tied to Avenging Spider-Man or another Spider-Man series. All we know for certain is that it is a story featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine and Elektra . Dark House is releasing Darksiders II: Death’s Door Volume 1 at the end of the year and will include issue's 0-5 of the digital comic series based on the recently released Darksiders II video game. It has been stated that Joe Madureira will be drawing the cover so hopefully it will be a new piece of work! Look forward to it being released December 19, 2012.

Here's the final game play trailer before Darksiders II is released to stores next Tuesday, August 14th in North America and August 21st in Europe! It's going to be epic, if you're a Joe Madureira and video game fan you can't miss out on this game.

Over at Kotaku.com they recently had an interview with Joe Madureira about the art design of Darksiders II. There were are few new images shown as well. Enjoy! Joe Madureira: A lot of it comes through in the voice performance by Michael Wincott— even if you were looking at the back of Death's head, you'd still get a lot of the emotion. Joe has recently tweeted that he will have a fresh Monika print (fresh colours anyway) for sale at the San Diego comic con. Check it out! Also, this October Udon will be releasing a Darksiders II artbook which can be preordered on Amazon.com . It will be 200 pages and here's the description. Joe Madureira has said on his Facebook fan page that he will be attending this years San Diego Comic Con which starts July 11th and ends the 15th. I'm thinking Marvel will announce his next Spider-Man project as he says he will have lots to share after SDCC. Joe has also shared the pencils to the a cover he drew for the upcoming Darksiders II comic book. I believe the comic is included with pre-ordering the Collectors edition of Darksiders II. Can't wait to hear some new Joe Madureira news at SDCC.

Over at Comic Book Resources they interviewed Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso who answered a question about Joe Madureira's next Spider-Man arc. Here's an amazing new CGI video for Darksiders II. I love how there are Calibretto type war golems in the game... it must be a Battle Chasers reference put in by Joe. Look forward to playing this game!

THQ has released a new video for Darksiders II showcasing the games environments and the design behind them. Joe's in the video explaining the concepts for a few of the environments. Darksiders II comes out June 26!

THQ has announced the Darksiders II Collector's Edition. Included in the package are the Limited Edition Darksiders game, exclusive in-game content "Shadow of Death" and "Argul's Tomb DLC," life-sized replica death mask, the Darksiders II soundtrack, and best of all a Darksiders II art book! The art book will feature work from Joe Madureira and the art team developing Darksiders II. I'm sure there will be unreleased artwork inside so look forward to that when Darksiders II is released on June 26, 2012.

Joe Madureira posted this to his Facebook the other day saying "The most fun part of drawing Wolverine for me is putting the hair on his arms. Weird?" For those of you who didn't know, the next Avenging Spider-Man arc drawn by Joe Mad will co-star Wolverine and a certain Greek assassin (I'm assuming it's Elektra). Hopefully Marvel will preview the cover art soon.

Joe Madureira updated his fans via facebook today about his next arc on Avenging Spider-Man. Yes, I will in fact be coming back to Avenging Spider-Man. My next arc is already in the works, and I'm pants-crappingly excited about it. I'm not exactly sure which issue it will be, I'd rather not speculate. Marvel should announce it soon. Hopefully they will post the cover soon. Stay tuned!! I'll update as soon as the news becomes available!
