Joe Madureira Reveals Shadow Isles Concept Art from Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

The Riot Games 'Summer Game Fest' interview happened earlier today, and a tiny bit of information came out of it. The biggest bit of info was a new piece of concept art showing off the Shadow Isles location that will be featured in the Ruined King. It seems League of Legends fans were pretty upset about this reveal since very little was shown or announced. However, there was some insight on a Battle Chasers: Nightwar sequel, in which Joe revealed that Airship Syndicate WAS working on it before they got approached by Riot Games to work on a League of Legends project. This is pretty heartbreaking for Battle Chasers fans since we'd all love a sequel to advance the story of Gully, Garrison and the gang. This makes total sense now why we haven't heard anything about a sequel to Battle Chasers: Nightwar, as well as the Battle Chasers comics, since Joe is heavily focused on the development of the Ruined King and so anything Battle Chasers related is most likely on the backbur...

Darksiders Concept Art by Joe Madureira

John Pearl of Gunfire Games is continuing his weekly (and sometimes daily) posts of concept art by Joe Madureira. This time he's posted a piece featuring 'the crow father' as well as a storyboard featuring Death and Elder Eideard from Darksiders 2. Then an even older concept of planet earth from the original Darksiders.

Red Monika and Zelda Breath of the Wild Sketch by Joe Madureira

In celebration of Battle Chasers: Nightwar releasing on the Nintendo Switch Joe Madureira posted a hilarious sketch of Red Monika showing Link her tri-force tattoo saying "Hey...big fan." Love this sketch! Also Link is in his Breath of the Wild blue tunic! Amazing. Hopefully we'll be seeing more from Joe and Airship Syndicate now that the game has been released on all platforms... Darksiders: The Documentary by Gameumentary, Out Now!

Gameumentary  has released an amazing documentary on the Darksiders video game series. It's a must watch for any fans of the game or just fans of Joe Madureira (since he was the creative director of the series). The documentary starts from the very beginning when the game was just an idea on a napkin right up until the development and release of Darksiders 2. If this documentary wasn't enough, Gameumentary will be releasing a new one on the development of Battle Chasers: Nightwar in the coming weeks. I'm looking forward to it! Hopefully we'll learn some interesting things about the design and development of the game. Also, maybe we'll finally hear some news about Joe Madureira's progress on continuing the Battle Chasers comic series.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar Update

The day is almost here! Battle Chasers: Nightwar is being released on October 3rd on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC with a Nintendo Switch release to follow. I backed the game on Kickstarter back in December of 2015 and have been enjoying playing the beta release on my MacBook Pro. I have to say, being a Joe Madureira fan it has been an amazing experience to dive back into the Battle Chasers universe that is so near and dear to Joe. I'm so happy that he had the opportunity to create this game for his fans. Other big news is that Udon is doing an art book for Battle Chasers: Nightwar and apparently it is almost complete! Here's a sneak peak of a few of the pages. Airship Syndicate also released the first of six videos featuring the playable characters in the game. First up, Knolan! Check it out below. Another video recently released was the opening cinematic by Powerhouse Animation (who did the recent Castlevania Anime on Netflix). Watch below! Here are some miscella...

Battle Chasers: Nightwar Kickstarter Alpha To Be Released April 17th

Airship Syndicate sent out a kickstarter update this week with a big announcement. The alpha-level kickstarter backers will be able to get their hands on the Battle Chasers: Nightwar alpha build on April 17, 2017 ! The beta will be released 6 to 8 weeks after the alpha. This weekend Airship Syndicate will be attending PAX East and showing off Battle Chasers: Nightwar at the THQNordic booth. Here's what they had to say about the build of the game attendees can play. The build will now feature gameplay of the town, world map, and an optional side-dungeon (they are small, 1-2 room experiences spread around the world) in addition to a full version of the game's first dungeon, the Iron Outpost. It also includes our finished and more fully-featured crafting system, a new-and-improved inventory UI, functional bestiary and dungeon codex, and some other cool stuff. We also tightened up the graphics on level 3 a bit. The kickstarter update also had a motion graphic sneak peek of one ...

Battle Chasers Nightwar Interview with GamingBolt: Arcanepunk Meets JRPG

Over at GamingBolt they had an exclusive interview with game lead and designer Ryan Stefanelli as well as product development director at THQ Nordic Reinhard Pollice. Read it below! What inspired you to bring Battle Chasers into the video game realm as a JRPG? How difficult has it been translating the comic’s tone and style to gameplay? When we decided it was time to bring Battle Chasers back, one of our first questions was… which character do you play? Is there a way to play all of them? Those of us who started Airship all love the RPG genre, the classic JRPGs in particular, so when the thought occurred to us to bring the two together, it seemed like a perfect fit. Translating Battle Chasers into an RPG has been pretty easy, especially since the series itself was directly inspired by JRPGs. So in a way, it’s like the whole thing coming around full circle. What is the overarching plot for Battle Chasers: Nightwar and how does it tie into the comic book? The powerful wiza...
